Legislative work on our behalf

As the Arizona State Legislative Sessions draws to a close, now would be a good time to let you know about some of the more significant work that was accomplished on our behalf by Brian Livingston, Arizona Police Association (APA) Executive Director, in concert with Dr Levi Bolton and our lobbyist firm of Williams & Associates.

The most significant issue directly effecting each of you was the exemption from furlough stipulation for "staff deemed critically essential which was written in the budget bill passed by the Legislature and signed into law by the Governor.  This amendment to the original bill which our team lobbied hard to have included, allows the Directors of Corrections & DPS, to request to the Director of the Department of Administration, that staff that are critically essential to the 24/7 operation of their department be exempt from furlough days.

Had it not been for the ACA's partnership with the APA, Corrections may not have been included in this exemption from furlough.  No other labor organization fought as hard to protect you from being subjected to furloughs.

The ACA stands committed to protect your rights and those of all corrections staff.
