Public Safety Employer-Employee Cooperation Act
Dear Members,
Yesterday evening, Senate Majority Leader Reid submitted the Public Safety Employer-Employee Cooperation Act as an amendment (S.Amdt. 4174) to the War Supplemental Appropriations Act, H.R. 4899. This move is a result of the pressure NAPO, together with other public safety organizations, has been putting on Senator Reid to follow through on his promises to bring this important legislation to the Senate floor for a vote.

Given that we are trying to attach the National Collective Bargaining bill to a War Supplemental spending measure, we face an uphill battle to gain support for our amendment. Not only are we facing senators who oppose giving basic collective bargaining rights to first responders, but we are also facing those lawmakers who do not believe unrelated legislation should be attached to a war supplemental. We need all the support we can get to ensure success in attaching our amendment to H.R. 4899.
